Shorthand Aided Rapid Keyboarding (SHARK)

在 mobile handsets/devices 中，輸入一直是高難度的議題，有許多方法相繼提出，其中 IBM alphaWorks 提供了 [Shorthand-Aided Rapid Keyboarding] 的解決方案，簡稱 SHARK，以下引述網頁介紹：
    Shorthand Aided Rapid Keyboarding (SHARK) is an advanced pen-based text input method for mobile devices. It combines novel pattern recognition technology with a stylus keyboard. A new user may trace the letters on the keyboard to enter a word. Over time one may remember some or parts of the patterns and speed up the text writing.

當我們在拼寫 "word" 這個字的時候，在縮小型的鍵盤大致是依據上圖的順序，注意到 keyboard layout，這是 IBM 研究人員針對個別字母出現頻率作調整的新排列，並且儘可能縮短字母間的距離，剛剛的 "word" 的移動量就可以清楚的從 w --> o --> r --> d 去表現。

上圖是實際使用的情況，當 Pen-based Input Devices 接受輸入時，其 stroke 在 SHARK 的呈現方式就是如上，看動畫可以更明暸。最後，是整個 SHARK 的 Block Diagram：
